Sorry I haven't posted on here in so long. But this is what I've been busy with for this time. I did video production up until my senior year, but stopped because I couldn't afford the equipment. 6 years later, I realized I had enough to do it again. I'm rusty as shit on Final Cut Pro and working the camera/lighting. But I learned alot on this shoot. I would appreciate it greatly if you guys could reblog the video and help spread the word. I promise I'll have videos weekly updated with new stuff, as well as more from the beautiful Nina Sung. She has a great story and you will hear about it very soon via video on my page.

Heartbreaker for Japan, relief project.

As some of you may know, I'm part of a car club by the name of Heartbreaker. One of our members Yuta, has taken the initiative to start this up with the help of our good friend Grayson to help with the relief project in Japan. If you can't scrounge up $5, please pass the word on for us.

My name is Yuta Akaishi and i am part of a car club by the name of Heartbreaker, If you are reading my blog i assume you have a decent idea of what kind of cars we build and drive. We have huge respect for Japan and many of our friends and family call Japan their home. Personally for me, my whole family lives in Japan and have been affected my the earthquakes, the tsunami and now the complications with the nuclear power plants.

We have never sold any stickers with any variation of our logo to the public, however i would like to do so at this time and offer these vinyl stickers which i will be personally making for sale at five dollars each, The same person who designed our Heartbreaker logo, a good friend of ours - Grayson was kind enough to design this logo for us as he is also Japanese American with family in Japan, We are all striving to do our own little part in helping those in need and urge you to do the same.

Every penny that i can raise through the sale of these stickers will be donated to aid the recovery of Japan, meaning when you donate $5.00, i will forward that money right to Japan. The sticker is just a gift that i would like to send to you. The postage and cost of materials will be paid for by myself as my contribution to aiding Japan. Project Manpad!....Round 1:

So as some may know, I was blessed with a 2 bedroom house a few years back. Perfect for a single dude. Only problem is my sense of style sucks horribly. I'm finally gonna bite the bullet and try at this cleanup/design/refresh/whateveryouwannacallit. I have very little money and no style, so we will see how this goes. I'm gonna try and work with a few people I know so I can save money and learn how to do things on the way. Here is basically a documented photo-stream of what the place looks like at the moment. Well start with the outside. It was repainted less than 5 years ago, same time the roof and gutters were redone. I put the new garage door being that the old original door caved in LOL. I had the yard redone this year as well(you can still see the pile of crap next to the 240 that needs to be removed soon. And I had them stop on the grass in the rear because I have some other plans that I wanted to do, such as a fire pit and what not.

Note; I know the place is messy, I didn't bother cleaning up before I took the photos. And no the house does not have blinds...it has designer sheets...BUAHAHA.

So I woke up late today but still had a chance to go check out the Fatlace Word Up event in Santa Clara. When I got there it just so happened that Mr. E7 Club himself, Lucky Valera was in attendance with his doppelganger Jason Encina. Jason had a really cool S13 fastback that he let Lucky take around the track a few times. I went out and got a few shots of this great occurrence. This is really all that mattered to me today. Lucky sliding, Pepper Lunch and now I'm here....enjoy.

Ear Love

So these changes I have been speaking of are going to be not only for the site, but for myself as well. I need to put myself in an environment where I can let my imagination really flow. The room I have been working out of did not resemble an office at all. It was more of a bedroom with a computer desk and my vinyl plotter. I finally gutted it out and rearranged the work space to be more efficient and give me a sense of power. In my ideal work environment, I love adequate work lighting and music. i need a thumping' sound system to assist in my work days. A good friend of mine finally gave in to sell me his god sent computer system and I couldn't be happier with this purchase. It's a Logitech Z 5500 Digital-5.1 channel audio system(picture below). This thing is purely amazing. 505 watts of pure ear love to keep the thoughts and ideas flowing freely. It has been the best investment I have made in awhile and I plan on keeping it for years to come.

Next up will be personalizing the room with a few photos of current and past projects of mine I would like to hang up. I think some of the best work environments are ones that you surround yourself with objects that represent apart of you. I can't fit my cars and bike in the room(HAHA) but pictures will work out just fine.

Changes for 2011

So as Yuta asked, no I didn't get one of those super cool atv looking' things. But there are gonna be some other things that get done here. Last year I really didn't pay too much attention to this blog because, well frankly I never thought anyone followed. After a few months of having the blog and not touching it, I started to update it with my new hobby of making stickers. Again I picked that up because I wanted to make money and start making stickers for people who needed them. Now after about 6 months of doing it, I'm coming to the realization that I never really wanted to start a serious business. It's too much of a headache with constraints and professionalism that you have to carry when you run a business. Too many deadlines and your creativity is really held back to make the customer happy. I'm not going to stop making anything, but I will slowly start to do more creative things with the resources I have. Many don't know that I use to draw alot when I was younger, and after looking at some of the things I have in sketch books I've saved over the years I want to get back in connection with that side of me.

And that's where I stand tonight, pages and pages scattered all over my desk of printed out images sketched over with notes written on the sides of them. Should be interesting and loads of fun once I get the ball rolling.

I'm gonna end this post with one more rant. All these "Movement" websites that are about flush and stanced cars. Can you cut the shit already and just let it soak in, that your really not doing anything special.

1975 Honda CB 400 Super Sport

Ill reformat sizing and all that later. This has been the new project I've been working on for the past month. I've been working on maintenance and replacing gaskets. I found the paint I needed for the motor...ended up being BBQ/STOVE paint LOL..The electronics are not on the bike at the moment because I'm stripping the harness down and fabricating a projector retro. Between work, school and damn stickers I haven't been able to work on this. But I took some time out of today to get it going. Made good progress..

New Mac Header and straight pipe, wrapped in heat wrap and ready for action. Also added some single filters for the carbs. I plan on scuffing them up for more of a brushed aluminum look. I also picked up some Mooneyes stem caps when I was at JCCS. Here are a few pics I took before I put her in for the night.

So I was heading to eat at my local Omagari Korean Restaurant out here in San Jose's Japantown, and I saw a kid holding an awkwardly cool bike. When I got out of the car I asked him what kind that was. He told me it was a Shorty Fatz. I'm like OHHH so you went to SoCal to get that? He was like, "Nah man, Shorty Fatz is local." San Jose(East Side...woot!) bred and nothing but quality. Well I'll give more info on them a bit later, but what I did get from the kid was info about this festival that is going down in a few weeks. You guys should come out. It looks like it's gonna be a blast.

Oh and check out Shorty Fatz. There artist/owner Sammy Rodriguez is a mastermind in the making. I was going through some of his artwork and he has an amazing eye for style and composure in his pieces.

So I did the "Canieat" vinyl as a joke but it seems that people kinda like it. I can do a small run of these, the only problem is I don't have transfer tape at the moment. If you want one it will have blue painters tape as the transfer tape lol. Thats my little twist on these "smurf" blue Canieat stickers.

Ima take the question mark off the sticker to make it a little closer to the original(supreme sticker!)

4:05pm....tired and hella hours later. I came to the conclusion to use a pc to run the plotter. It's too much damn work to run Mac software. Its 4:46am and after 8 hours sitting on this vinyl cutters program, I've come to the conclusion that Summa fucked up. They will be getting a call from me in 3.5 hours and we will fix this matter. The only stickers I got out of the cutter were the sample files programed on the plotter itself. None from my computer to plotter. I also have to hit up the county clerks office and get the proper paperwork so I can go pick up my vinyl. I might have to move the system back over to PC because of the lack of support for software on MAC for plotters. But that the last resort. Plans are to be fully functional by Monday.

Oh and I wanna thank Andrew over at Gillis Motorsports for hooking it up with a free roll of vinyl for me to start practicing on. I really needed some and they came through....for free :)

Worked on a new HPI Scion XB Rc car body. Kinda fun, I had an idea..that didn't plan out the way I wanted. The blue was the wrong shade. I'm a bit rusty around the edges, I haven't done an r/c car body in hella years. It turned out ok. But with the decals tomorrow, I think it will finish the look(not mine, I did it for a friend)

So I have had many questions about the suspension I run on the Q45 and Suzie runs on the STI. I heard of this brand called BC Racing from my buddy Shane at Limitless Motorsports and was a bit skeptical. I had never heard of this brand from anywhere and we all know about the Ebay specials. After doing some research and finding out that alot of Evo and Sti guys run them in the UK, I took a chance on them, I ordered a set of R32GTR coilovers with custom spring rates and did a bit of modifying to get them to fit the Q45. Man was it worth it! The quality of them does feel solid. They don't feel cheap nor do I feel that I'm gonna need a rebuild after 1 year. And another good thing that I liked was that they can handle extremely low ride heights. I have had them on the Q45 for close to a year now and no complaints.

When I bought the STI(I no longer own the car) I wanted something that came straight out the box ready for anything I throw at them. Did some research only to find that BC Racing fit this criteria AGAIN. Well it just so happen that someone had a set locally on Craigslist for sale and I jumped on it. I'm glad I did, but sad that I can't drive the car more often :(. Suzie does enjoy the car very much and even with no preload up front(that has been addressed by raising the strut towers already) the car rides extremely smooth at softer damper settings and solid at stiffer settings.

Customer Service? I have dealt with them on two occasions. One being when I needed to buy another set of top-hats to accommodate the Q45. They were extremely helpful in sourcing out the parts I needed and got them shipped out ASAP. It helps that they are based out here in the USA and work normal business hours.

Overall I think I will be running their coilovers on every one of my future cars if they make an application for it. And if they don't have it, I will either bug them horribly to make one or try to frankenstein a setup from their available parts :).

I have another project that I'm picking up tomorrow and I will have consistent updates on it with write-ups on the parts I choose.

And this brings me to realize that I don't take pictures of the Q45 as much as I should. I have a bunch of when the car was on air suspension, but those are old and mean nothing.

You guys should really check these coilovers out though if your in the market. They are reasonably priced whether you are getting them for your car that acts as a daily driver or the weekend warrior. And when it comes time to rebuild, just call up BC Racing-NA and instead of having to send your coilovers out and waiting 6-8 weeks like other suspension companies. You can just order new struts and use your old hardware, for under $100 a strut. When I get my car to Gillis Motorsports to finish up some work, I will get detailed pictures of the suspension. In the meantime you can check out there site and see if they have the application for you.

On some quick updates for the Q45, the car is at the transmission shop right now. They are telling me it is in "fail safe mode" and that is the valve train that needs to be rebuilt...I'm calling bullshit but i'll wait until the final verdict until Monday.

On a good note, I have been asked by Mark Arcenal to start blogging for Hella Flush. It is a great honor to have this opportunity and I would love to contribute in anyway I can. I love to educate folks about new things that they are interested in. And in order to become a better blogger, I feel I need to be able to post up some features that I actually worked on myself. So I have been getting some camera gear together and I'm starting to get some practice shots in before I actually shoot my first car.

It is definitely a fun and exciting new experience for me that I will be taking and running with. I officially made my first post today about a car that I think is pretty iconic in my eyes in the VIP scene. Go check it out, comment and enjoy the features to come. :)

So I have been throwing numbers around to figure out wheel specs for awhile and I had the chance today to borrow a stupid sized wheel. This was from a friend of mine who owned a set of Rays with the rear wheel 18x13-4. Now I had to use a 5mm spacer to clear the bbk. But This is what 18x13-9 looks like on the Q45. I can put money that something maybe 15-20mm less aggressive with a pull would sit nicely under these fenders...enjoy..
